Cristina Carballo, DVM, MS
Dr. Carballo joined Violet Crown in 2025 as an Emergency Veterinarian, bringing more than a decade of experience caring for animals across the Austin area. She has worked extensively with dogs, cats, and horses, and is known for her calm, compassionate approach in urgent and high-pressure situations.

Dr. Carballo earned both her Doctor of Veterinary Medicine and Master of Science in Comparative Biology from Tufts University in 2014. Throughout her studies, she regularly returned home to the Dominican Republic to provide pro bono surgeries and consultations for working equids, as well as assist in large-scale spay and neuter clinics for stray dog and cat populations. Her dedication to animal welfare and community health earned her recognition as a Dr. Henry Foster Scholar, an honor awarded for academic excellence and humanitarian service.

She completed her undergraduate degree at Oklahoma State University, graduating Magna Cum Laude—and developed a lifelong fondness for two-stepping and cowboy boots along the way.

Fluent in both English and Spanish, Dr. Carballo is passionate about improving the lives of her patients while ensuring their families feel informed and supported every step of the way. She strives to make every emergency visit as calm, clear, and compassionate as possible.

Outside the hospital, Dr. Carballo embraces life’s beautiful chaos with her young children and dogs. Together, they enjoy hiking, swimming, cooking, and horseback riding.
