Similar to human medicine, a Board Certified Veterinary Specialist is a veterinarian that has completed three to four years of additional training in a specific field of interest. A veterinary Specialist is also required to complete an internship, residency, and pass a comprehensive examination to ensure they are qualified to practice medicine within their chosen specialty.
